Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 June 2026. This policy explains how Geniebook Pte Ltd (“Geniebook”, “we”), the operator of GenieOne at genie1.ai, handles personal data, and your rights under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Who we are

GenieOne is a kid-safe, MOE-aligned AI tutor for Singapore students from Primary 1 to Junior College 2, operated by Geniebook Pte Ltd, a company incorporated in Singapore. GenieOne is part of the Geniebook family of products. This policy covers genie1.ai and the GenieOne app, including the gtx (听写 / tingxie) tool.

What we collect

  • Account information — the name and email used to create a parent or student account, and the password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Student learning data — the questions a student asks, the tutor conversations, tingxie word lists and practice activity. This is used to provide and improve the tutoring, and is visible to the parent on the account.
  • Parent contact details — a parent’s WhatsApp / phone number, where provided, used to deliver tingxie session links and practice reminders.
  • Payment information — when you subscribe, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Device and usage data — cookies and similar identifiers, pages viewed, and basic device/browser information, used to keep you signed in, to keep the service secure, and to measure how our marketing performs.

How we use personal data

  • To provide the tutoring service and the gtx tingxie flow.
  • To run our kid-safety filtering on tutor replies.
  • To send tingxie session links and practice reminders, where a parent has opted in.
  • To improve the quality and safety of the tutors.
  • To process subscriptions and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To measure and improve our marketing, including advertising on Meta platforms.

Children's data

GenieOne is used by students who are minors. Accounts are intended to be created and managed by a parent or guardian. Parents can review their child’s full chat history on the account, and can ask us to delete their child’s data at any time. We do not sell student data.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We also use analytics and advertising cookies — including the Meta pixel — to understand how visitors find us and to measure our advertising. You can control cookies in your browser settings; blocking non-essential cookies will not stop you using GenieOne.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only as needed to run the service, with:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers that run the service for us.
  • AI processing providers that generate tutor responses on our instructions.
  • A payment processor, to take subscription payments.
  • A messaging provider, to deliver WhatsApp reminders where opted in.
  • Analytics and advertising partners, including Meta, to measure and improve our advertising.

We require these providers to protect personal data and to use it only for the purposes we specify. We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it to provide the service, meet legal and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.

How we protect it

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and other safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit who can access it.

Your rights

Under the PDPA, you may:

  • Ask for access to the personal data we hold about you or your child.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Withdraw consent for uses such as marketing or reminders.
  • Ask us to delete your account and associated data.

To exercise any of these, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@geniebook.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by the PDPA.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
